While Candice took a break from her Ballet Beautiful workout with founder, Mary Helen Bowers, we snagged some fantastic tips & tricks from the trainer on what to eat, how to motivate, and why working out is the ultimate mood boost. See you at the barre!
Tell us a little about Ballet Beautiful and your training technique.
Ballet Beautiful is really known for giving women their best legs, best butt, and best posture, so it’s a full body workout. I think that exercise should make you look and feel beautiful and elegant and strong. You can have all those things together at once. And to me, ballet, a ballerina’s body, is about that combination. It’s about strength. It’s about femininity. And mixing it with a workout that is athletic and artistic at the same time.
How are you amping up the Angels’ workout routines prior to the fashion show?
We’re upping the reps on toning work. Toning is essential for sculpting and for the way that the body is going to be shaped. Also adding in that extra bit of standing and cardio for extra burn.
What’s your number one tip for looking and feeling good?
Drink a ton of water. Stay hydrated and you’ll feel really great.
And for fueling a workout?
Choose the types of foods that keep you toned and lean. Whole grains, healthy fruits and veggies, lean proteins. And you want to make sure you’ve got your healthy fats as well. Almonds, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado. It’s really about a balance, having a little bit of everything. No diet, more of a lifestyle approach.
The best motivation for a workout?
Focus on how you feel when it’s done. How great you will feel—energized, toned, confident, and happier. It’s a mood-lifter. I think that exercise should be a way to pamper your body—fun, inspiring, and make you look and feel your best. This workout lets you feel feminine, pretty, and playful. Anybody can do Ballet Beautiful. I can bring out any women’s ultimate physique.
